Kayaking in the Panama Canal
Paddle Through the Panama Canal, An Experience of a Lifetime
Kayaking in the Panama Canal Overview
Travel to one of the permanent Canal Zone townships of Gamboa, originally built to house employees of the Panama Canal and their dependents. From there, board your kayak on the Chagres River and head towards the channel. Paddle East to the ruins of Venta de Cruces, a village with a trail important for carrying Peru’s silver and gold during the Spanish colonial era. Its hidden location is a haven for howler and white-faced monkeys, spectacular to view by kayak. Explore the paved flat-stone trail and jump back in your kayak to head Northeast. Spot toucans, snail kites, ospreys and, on rare occasions, manatees. Crocodiles also come included.
Features: hotel pick-up/drop-off, bilingual guide, box lunch, filtered water, entrance fees, all equipment.
